The Thantri of the Sabarimala temple Kantararu Maheswararu on Wednesday demanded a comprehensive probe into the Kannada actress Jaimala’s claim that she had entered the sanctum sanctorum and touched the idol in 1987.

The Thantri said that the allegation was baseless as even other Brahmin priests of the temple were not permitted to enter the sanctum sanctorum and touch the idol.

Thantri also hinted that no woman could be able to enter the sanctum sanctorum in such a crowded place like Sabarimala temple.

Thantri said that the allegations could be the result of some conspiracies to bring disrepute to the sacred place.
