The arrest of Vibhag Prachar Pramukh of RSS Valsan Thillankeri in Kannur on Monday in connection with a case relating to the murder of CPI(M) activist KK Yakub last month is turning into a hot political issue in the State.

Protesting against the arrest of Valsan on the charge of conspiracy in the case, RSS leaders will stage indefinite hunger from Thursday

Valsan himself held a hunger strike at the sub-jail in Thalassery where he was lodged after he was remanded to custody for 14 days after the arrest, alleging that he was held on false charges.

Several leaders like RSS State Saha Sampark P Sivadas, State BJP secretary AN Radhakrishnan, BMS State deputy leader M Nagaresh, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch State leader KV Biju, Hindu Aikya Vedi district president Sundaram will participate in the hunger strike which starts on Thursday.

Announcing the decision on the hunger strike at a press conference here on Tuesday, RSS Nagar Sanghchalak V Krishnan said that the Sangh Parivar would stage intense agitation programmes against the CPI(M) policy which targeted the innocent workers of Hindu organisations.

“The CPI(M) has adopted cheap and wicked tactics to attack Sangh Parivar activists in the state,” alleged the RSS leader. Police arrested Valsan Thillankeri, a reputed State level leader of the RSS from his college in front of hundreds of his students,” alleged the leaders.
