Reduce state tax on fuel, BJP tells CM

KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, if committed to the cause of people, should cut the State Government’s tax on petrol and diesel, saving the people from the additional financial burden, said BJP state secretary P K Krishnadas.

“The state now receives Rs 14.24 on one litre of petrol and Rs 9.90 on diesel as sales tax. VS should prove his sincerity by reducing the tax in view of the steep price hike effected by the UPA Government,” the BJP leader told reporters on Wednesday.

Asserting that the Congress-led UPA Government implemented the hike with the support of the Left parties, he said the agitations now initiated by the CPM were a political stunt and just another farce.
