Ravi Varma Puraskaram to M.F. Hussein ? : P. Parameshwarji

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Raja Ravi Varma and M.F. Hussein represent two contradictory poles in the realm of vision of arts. The images of Gods and Goddesses and heroes and figures of Bharathia epics are obtained from the paintings of Ravi Varma. The Gods and Goddesses picturised by Ravi Varma were modest as well as well dressed and well decorated. M.F. Hussein’s style is entirely different. He became infamous by picturising Devi Saraswathi and Bharath Matha as naked women and hurted the feelings of crores of believers around the globe.

Hussein expressed not art, but a distortion and prostitution of arts.  It is difficult to believe that M.A. Baby does not know it. If it is done purposely because of the pseudo cultural perception and dirty political tactics. It is not proper on the part of a secular minister to announce this award in the midst of the controversy surrounding Hussein. It may bring media glare but all concerned will have to regret later.

Will Baby dare to announce the inception of an award in the name of Vakkom Abdul Khader Moulavi and award the same to Salman Rushdie and give total security to Rushdie when he arrives to accept it ?   We expected more rationale and sense from the Educational Minister. But, our expectations and dreams are going baseless !!!!!
