‘Raghaveeyam Madhyama Puraskaram’ to Deepak Dharmadam

KOZHIKODE : The first time awards from Kesari Malayalam Weekly for the Best Journalists in Kerala have been declared. Noted Writer and Journalist and Mangalam dailies previous editor Shri. K.M. Roy was selected for the `Rashtra Seva Puraskaram’ for his contribution in the field of journalism and Shri. Deepak Dharmadam of Amrita TV was selected for `Raghaveeyam Madhyama Puraskaram’ as the best Journalist of the new generation.One of his reports about a cancer patient Nirmala at Kozhikode Medial College was selected for the award. 


 


The ‘Rashtra Seva Puraskaram’ carries Rs. 50000/-, citation and memento and ‘Raghaveeyam Madhyama Puraskaram’ carries Rs. 25000/-, citation and memento announced  Kesari Managing trustee U. Gopal Malarji in a press meet here.The award will be distributed on 4th November at Jaya Auditorium in Kozhikode.


 


Shri. Deepak Dharmadam needs no introduction to the concerned citizens in Kerala and his famous book `Keralam Bheekararude Naadu’ (Kerala – Terrorists own country) still stands out as the lone work in Malayalam Investigative Literature.  


 


Deepak hails from Nadayilakkandi family of Kalathil Tharavadu in Kannur district. From childhood he had shown interest in cultural and literary activities and started his literary work by preparing handwritten monthly publication for Balagokulam. Entered the print media by publishing his first article in Kesari while he was the SSLC student. Started as the Janmabhoomi reporter at Thalassery when he was studying for Pre-Degree.  Later he was elevated to the positions of Kasargode district reporter and as Trichur Bureau Chief. At a young age itself he has published many controversial investigative reports and during this period he was appointed as Bureau Chief of Janmabhoomi Kozhikode edition.


 


 He was beaten up at Karippor airport for having reported about the controversial `Ice-cream Parlour Case’ and was bedridden for weeks. In 2004 he was conferred with `Best Performance Award’ by Janmabhoomi Management.  He has also served as a member of the Central Telecom Advisory Board. He holds Bachelor degree in Politics and Diploma in Journalism. He had performed  as guest lecturer at the Visual Media College of Amrita Vidyapeetam. He has to credit over 10 years dedicated works in journalism and currently he is working with Amrita TV Kozhikode Bureau.   


 


While congratulating Shri. Deepak Dharmadam for the well deserved award conferred on him by Kesari Malyalam Weekly, it is pertinent to mention here that the investigative reports of Deepak bears more substance and material for any law enforcing authorities to go in for detailed investigations and save this country from the enemies within and outside.
