published on January 22, 2013
As all aware of, there is a mass protest against the proposal to build an international airport at Aaranmula, the heritage village. The project, if proceeded with, will result in complete destruction of a culture and heritage steeped in antiquity. As part of the proposal, the mass protests and details related to the same will branch out on the social networking media as well. This will enable to get the message across to more number of people.Last week the Aranmula Village and Heritage Action Council had called for a convention of social media users. The response was tremendous. The Samiti is now actively using Facebook, having groups and pages voicing remonstration against the proposed airpot project. An overwhelming number of people have voiced their support and come forward to join the group in a short span of time. Let it be remembered that the quick and instant response made by the masses via social media is, undoubtedly the native’s rising anger against the unjust project.
