Prisoner taken to private hospital: BJP seeks probe

KASARGOD: The BJP has demanded a probe into the admission of a remand prisoner for treatment to a private hospital in Mangalore overlooking the rules. BJP district president K.Jagadeesha said here on Friday that Moideen Bava, a native of Manjes waram, had been remanded in judicial custody in a case for attacking police following the death of a motorcyclist after a bus hit him at Kunjathur Mada a few days ago.


The BJP leader said Moideen Bava was referred to the private hospital by the jail authorities after he was admitted to the taluk hospital. The BJP leader said according to rules, the remand prisoner should have been referred to the district hospital in Kanhangad or to a medical college hospital in the state.

There was no rule to admit a remand prisoner to a private hospital in a neighbouring state. BJP said the prisoner was referred to the private hospital following intrevention by the CPM.
