Pregnant cow slaughtered in Kerala

via HK published on October 15, 2006

MALAPPURAM: One of the most sinful activities in the society, a pregnant cow was slaughtered in Malappuram district of Kerala yesterday. The slaughtering of a pregnant cow had caused widespread protest among the residents of the district and they had disposed the dead calf in public to protest against the action of the slaughterhouse.

When the matter became a major issue in that area the owner of the slaughtering shop Saifudeen came up with an excuse that he was cheated by the owner of the cow and that he was not informed that the cow was pregnant.

The authorities had cancelled the licence of the stall near Hajiar Palli following the massive public protest.
