Plastic banned in Sabarimala

via HK published on November 23, 2010

Under Section-V of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, Kerala State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has issued a notification (dated 22-11-2010) banning ‘‘sale and use of plastic carry bags and dumping of plastic materials, including pet bottles, sachets or pouches, into water bodies and open areas in and around the Sannidhanam, Pampa, Chalakkayam, Nilackal and Erumely.”

HK welcomes this move by Kerala State PCB in banning plastic in Sabarimala. We request all  our readers who are Sabarimala pilgrims to publicize about this ban and ensure that plastic materials are not carried to Sabarimala. Individuals make the society and we need to change first to change the society.
