Pinarayi continues RSS-bashing in Thalassery

via Pioneer News Service | Kannur published on March 14, 2008

CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan after visiting the houses of the CPI(M) workers killed and injured in the recent political clashes in Thalassery area told mediapersons that the RSS has planned action against the CPI(M) at the national level and that this was the reason for the recent political killings in the area.

The CPI(M) leader said that if the RSS thinks that it can subdue the CPI(M) by force, it will never happen. He spoke to reporters at Thalassery.

Vijayan, however, said that the CPI(M) will co-operate whole-heartedely to the peace talks initiated by the State Government. The CPI(M) State secretary also said that the party is taking up people’s programmes and that the RSS leadership is annoyed at the popularity of the party in the State and the growing public acceptance it has among the common people and this is the reason for unleashing the brutalities on the CPI(M).

It may be recalled that the CPI(M) is the largest political party in Kannur district with the party claiming the support of 60 per cent people of the district. The million dollar question is why is the CPI(M) which is boasting of such a vast support-base in the district trying to physically silence the RSS which is only a minority in the district as claimed by the CPI(M).

The Congress MLA and former Minister and KPCC general secretary K Sudhakaran told Press persons that the CPI(M) has such machinery at their disposal and added that the party would go to any extent to tarnish the image of the individuals and leaders.

Raghavan an RSS worker from Kuthuparamba while speaking to The Pioneer said “There are no truths in what the CPI(M) State secretary is saying. This episode of the political killings of Thalassery has the full knowledge of the CPI(M) State secretary. He is trying to befool the audience.”

This has happened only due to the vitriolic speech carried out by the CPI(M) leader against the RSS in which Vijayan had reportedly said that the CPI(M) does not have the culture of not keeping the debts for long. He had, according to eye witnesses, said that the CPI(M) will return all its debts with interest and compound interest.

In fact, sources in Thalassery confirm that this was the major issue for the immediate provocation on the part of the CPI(M) cadre.

It may be recalled that the present episode of violence started after the RSS leader MP Sumesh was attacked by the CPI(M) cadre in the heart of Thalassery town after he had just come out of a hotel after having lunch. Sumesh lost his left palm in the attack and still is in a critical condition at Kozhikode Medical college.

The following attacks were a sequence to the attack on Sumesh and the immediate attack against RSS workers in several parts of the district within minutes indicates that the CPI(M) was totally planned for such an attack. Sources in the State police who does not want to be named however told The Pioneer, “There is a lack of coordination among the concerned Minister and the department.”

RSS leaders claimed that the police was showing the true colours and it was sycophancy at its best.
