Pinarayi calls on Rajagopal, Congratulate him on completing 50 years in public

CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today visited BJP veteran O Rajagopal at latter’s’ residence in Thiruvananthapuram.

In a meeting that lasted for about 20 minutes, both Pinarayi and O Rajagopal exchanged pleasantries and recalled their long personal relations. “You may think that we are enemies. It is not so. Political differences will be always there. But I have enjoyed good personal rapport with leaders like Mararji (K G Marar) too,” Pinarayi told journalists who had gathered at Rajagopal’s flat in Sasthamangalam .

Pinarayi and Rajagopal also recalled their association during the anti-emergency stir, the only time when both Left parties and then Jan Sangh associated with each other in Kerala.

Answering questions from media, Pinarayi Vijayan also slammed the Union government over the death of ganagrape victim in New Delhi. He said instead of creating an atmosphere of confidence and talking stringent measures to avoid such incidents in future, the authorities are trying to use muscle power to suppress the public anger, he said. Pinarayi also pointed out that many have raised doubt over the sudden decision of the government to move the girl from New Delhi to a Singapore hospital.
