Payyambalam burial ground vandalized;Hindu Aikyavedi calls harthal tomorrow.

The Hindu Aikya Vedi and SNDP Yogam have jointly called for a hartal in Kannur and Azheekkal. The call comes following the desecration of Hindu cremation grounds at Payyambalam.

Recently, the cremation ground at Payyambalam witnessed a heated row when members of the Pallikkunnu panchayat sought the taking over of the cremation grounds. The Thiyya Community Cremation Committee objected to the takeover, as they had been managing the grounds for over a century.

The panchayat had approached the committee with a High Court order entrusting them with the land’s possession, which the committee denied.
