Thiruvananthapuram: A pastor and 9 others have been accused of human trafficking under the guise of conducting pilgrimage to Jordan. A case has been registered against them by Valiyathura police following a complaint by Emigration Department of Thiruvananthapuram Airport.

Chancellus Femus, the pastor, who was a former priest with St Joseph Church, Kazhakkoottam is said to have worked in league with a tour operator for the same. “A group of 10 headed by Femus is said to have left for Jordan under the name of pilgrimage. However, with only the pastor returning to home turf, the emigration authorities grew suspicious. They alerted the police,” said sources.

Femus is said to be part of the mammoth human trafficking lobby which supplies people from Holyland to Israel.
