Ornaments worth over Rs 1.80 lakh stolen from Ganapathi Temple

Gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 1.80 lakh were stolen from the Ganapathi Temple at Puzhathi Theru near here on early Wednesday morning, police said.

Thieves entered the temple through the front door and broke open the three heavy locks attached to the hundi box in which valuables like gold and silver ornaments offered by the devotees, were kept.

The burglary was noticed by a woman when she came to clean the temple premises in the morning. Later, the empty hundi box was recovered from near the temple, the police said.
