NSS to set up old age home and de-addiction centre

The NSS will soon set up a medical and engineering entrance coaching centre in Thiruvananthapuram. Announcing this, NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair said that preliminary work towards this has already been initiated.

“The new centre will come up alongside the Civil Service Academy of the NSS in the capital,” said Sukumaran Nair, while presenting the annual budget at Prathinidhi Sabha Hall, Perunna on Friday.

Other projects proposed are upgrading of NSS-run hospitals at Pandalam and Perunna into super specialty hospitals, construction of an ayurveda hospital at Nilambur, de-addiction centre in Kummannoor and old-age home in Pandalam.

Karayogams functioning without its own building will b granted aid for construction.

The NSS also plans the launch of more self-help groups for empowering women, spiritual learning centres under each Karayogam for developing basic knowledge in spiritual matters, social commitment and good manners among the youth.

“NSS will be celebrating next year as its centenary year. During this period, all the buildings which are currently under construction will be completed and the existing buildings will be done up,” said Sukumaran Nair.
