Now, Kerala Christians demands ‘St. Thomas Catholic Varsity’ and Jerusalem Subsidy

published on April 21, 2012

KOCHI: Catholics in the state are now seeking permission to establish a catholic university in Kerala in the name of St. Thomas. Although Vatican itself has repudiated the claims of St.Thomas’s visit to South India and many Historians like M G S Narayanan has categorically rejected such false claims – Kerala Christians still cling to this myth perpetuated by Christian propaganda machinery.

The Syro-Malabar Church Laity Commission chairman Bishop Mar Mathew Arakkal and secretary V C Sebastian have submitted a memorandum to Union Government seeking permission to establish a Catholic University in the name of St Thomas and government subsidy for Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem. They cite the Union government subsidy given for Haj to Muslims as justification. Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh Governments have already decided to give state subsidy to Christians from their states to visit Jerusalem.
