As
the CPI(M) was carrying on with an electoral cooperation with Abdul
Nasser Madani’s PDP in the State, Politburo member and State Home
Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made it clear in Kochi that there would
be no new probes against Madani while his senior party colleague and
Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan agreed to look into the new allegations
of terror links against him.

In the context of the reports that
terror operatives had close links with Madani and his wife Sufiya,
Kodiyeri said that all these allegations were old and there were no new
complaints against him. He added that a new probe against Madani had no
relevance.

Responding to newsmen’s references to the revelations
of probe officials about Madani’s links with some terror operatives
arrested in different cases, the Chief Minister said he would examine
the matter. “It is up to the Home Department to hold an investigations.
But I will examine the allegations. Let me study the matter. I have to
get the details,” he said.

Madani denied all the allegations,
saying he was ready to face any sort of investigation. He said in
Tirur, Malappuram that the same forces that had sent him into prison
once were out to do it once again.

The Pioneer and other media
had reported the police’s observations about the links between
Sainuddeen alias Abdul Sattar, arrested for involvement in the
Bangalore blasts, had connections to Madani and his wife. The police
had understood that Sainuddeen’s daughter had been attending school by
staying at Sufiya’s residence in Kochi.

The school’s
headmistress had told the police in Kochi that Sufiya was the local
guardian of the girl, according to school records. Another man arrested
in connection with the terror operations, Yusuf alias Mani of Tamil
origin, had worked at Sufiya’s purdah shop in Kochi. Madani had the
other day admitted that Mani had worked with the purdah shop.
