No Minority Status to Trusts or Societies : Commission
New Delhi : National Minority commission for education rejected 62 applications of minority institutions from Kerala. The commission ordered them to apply first to state govt. for the Minority Status.Commission also informed that Educational societies or trust wont be eligible for Minority Status.
Out of this 60 institutions who applied were Christian institutions under Thallasery Diocese. Two other institutions were from Mallapuram and Wayanad District.
Today Commission extended the hearing of the applications from Muslim owned AWH engineering college from Kozhikode and Lissie Nursing Institution from Ernakulam to 18th July
This AWH Engineering college in Kozhikode is a part of AWH Trust, and as per Commission briefing no Trust and Societies will be eligible for Minority status. Taking this into account, then why the commission is even considering their application! Previously the same commission had sent official papers in the hands of the AWH Officials, ie the applicants itself to State Govt.,which was against all norms to be followed by a responsible government agency.
