NIA to take over Popular Front Terrorist attack

NIA has reportedly informed the Union Home Department that it is now prepared to take over the investigation into the Islamist attack on Prof Joseph. The agency, which is currently probing seven terror cases in Kerala, had earlier declined to take up the probe on the ground that the cases registered Kerala Police had not carried charges that came under its purview.

However, the Kerala Police had later informed that there were cases relating to the attack that came related to offences that came under the concern of the NIA. Also, the Central Intelligence agencies reported to the Union Government that the investigation by the Kerala Police had been derailed and that there was a bid to save the actual culprits.
