Narath case:State pitches for NIA probe

Speculating a terrorism connection in the Kannur Narath Popular Front case, the State Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that it will further be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after they get the approval from the Centre.

The home minister requested the state and central governments after he learnt the details from the report prepared by his ministry. He said that the approval from the Centre for NIA to probe the case will be ready within a week’s time.

According to the Home Ministry report one person out of the 21 arrested had Rs. 80 lakh transferred into his eight bank accounts from a foreign country and that it was utilized for illegal matters. The report also stated that the call logs of all the arrested have revealed their conversation with terrorists abroad. The report prepared by the State Home Ministry was sent to the central home ministry for further study.
