KOZHIKODE: In a breakthrough in the probe into the Kerala-links of Pakistani militant Mohamed Fahad, an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a postman have been arrested for their alleged role in securing an Indian passport for the ultra, police sources said.

ASI Muhammadali and postman Abdul Latheef were today produced before the magistrate in Kunnamangalam near here and were remanded to judicial custody.

According to police, Muhammadali of Areekode police station in Malappuram district, had done the police verification and cleared Fahad’s application for passport.

The postman, who was working in Kavannur post office in Malappuram district, had delivered the passport to a travel agency, as arranged by Fahad.

Police investigations had earlier found that Fahad had, a few months back, visited Kozhikode, from where his father Abdulla Koaya had migrated to Pakistan in 1970s.

Immediately after the arrest of Fahad and another militant in Mysore, police had searched the houses of some of the relatives of Fahad’s father in Kozhikode district.
