Murder of RSS leader:Fresh probe ordered

Kozhikode:After seven years,  Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court ordered a fresh probe into the brutal murder of RSS swayamsevak P Manoj at Beypore by CPM goons.


 


Manoj was the Sharirik Pramukh of Godavari Nagar(Beypore-Naduvattom Area) was Killed by CPM goons in the area by poisoning him with cyanide.Body of Manoj was found with both the legs tied at the FCI godown at Beypore on April 12, 1999.


 


The police with the influence of Marxist party were eager to close the file as a case of Suicide.The blood seen near the spot, The slippers  recovered from the site,Absconding of CPM leaders after the incident etc was never probed by the police.


 


Judge P Krishnan directed the Malappuram Crime Branch to probe the case based on a petition filed by Manoj’s brother Gireesh. The court also rejected the ‘refer report’ filed by the DySP of the CB-CID, which had stated that the cause of death could not be ascertained.

Criticising the CB-CID for not conducting the investigation properly, the court directed the investigating agency to submit a fresh refer report. The Crime Branch was also asked to use modern methods to collect evidence and proceed with the investigation.


The Kerala High Court had entrusted the investigation with the CB-CID based on a petition filed by Manoj’s father Sekharan, when the Beypore police had been probing the case.
