KOCHI : Hindu organizations called for mass protests and public meeting all over Kerala against planned attack on Hindu spiritual leaders and Sanyasis.

DYFI Workers severely manhandled Hindu Sanyasi at Admali, Idukki District, Kerala on 28th evening. Revered Sanyasi Ramananda Swami of Gurusakthi Seva Sangham was attacked by DYFI workers and was pulled through the streets of Adimali severely.

Over Rs. 2000.00 and files containing records of his Ashram were taken away by CPM people after the attack. Swamiji injured in the attack is admitted for treatment at AdimaliTalukHospital.

Upon the decision of Gurusakthi Seva Sangham, Ramananda Swami reached the tribal and adivasi colony at Chinnaparakudi in Adimali, for spiritual/social work. He was camping in the house of the former CPM Branch Secretary at Chinnaparakkudi. Swamiji’s activities were centered around spiritual education, prevention of drinking of liquor and upliftment of women.

The ire on loss of income from the sale of drinks and dope and weaning of followers seems to have angered the CPM leaders culminating in the attack against the Swamiji. The Swamiji was prevented and attacked at Adimali on his way to Thiruvalla Ashramam by CPM and DYFI workers who took away his money and files. They made him walk through Adimali streets calling him bogus Swami before handing over him to Adimali Police. Since there were no complaints against the Swami he was let off by the Police. Police enquiries at Chinnapparakudi elicited no complaints.

The 30 member gang under the leadership of CPM Area committee member C. P. Shaji, Local Committee Secretary and Panchayat Standing Committee member C. D. Shaji, Grama Panchayat Member Jose Jone, CPM Chattupara Branch Secretary Sudheesh alias Ambadi, Branch Secretaries Jabbar /Panachikkadu Biju, Local Committee (Adimali) Secretary Kamaruddhin, Kochappa alias Binoy, DYFI leader attacked the Swamiji.

The Police was witness to the criminal attack stretching over hours.

The Swami was leading the life of a recluse for the last 12 years. Hindu Aikyavedi took out a protest procession in Adimali demanding the arrest of the Swamiji’s attackers. Hindu Aikyavedi has planned a protest march and public meeting on Wednesday under the leadership of Secretary Sri. E. S. Biju. Swami Ayyappadas and others will address the meeting.
