Marxist Bank Scam

Kollam: It has been over two years that the mammoth 12 crore rupees scam of the Service Cooperative Bank in Mailom panchayat in Kottarakkara which falls under CPM, has been reported. Investors say they were swindled into depositing the money with claims of the bank being a government establishment. In spite of having received ample complaints and grievances related to the same, party Politburo chief Pinarayi Vijayan and the self proclaimed hero of the down-trodden VS Achuthanandan have managed to maintain stoic silence over the same. According to those who have been swindled, “both state and district leadership of CPM have conveniently chosen to ignore the matter.”

In a press conference, the victim investors exposed “how party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had refused to meet them in person” and how they decided to send a signed mass petition via e-mails, following his directives. “Following this, we sent a registered petition letter to opposition leader VS Achuthanandan. Both had no response,” they said.

The episode has exposed the double standards being indulged in by Marxists. They who shrieked aloud around a decade ago, seeking to address the alleged corruption taking place in district cooperative bank are the ones who actually swindle and loot to the maximum. The party that has been crying aloud for the right of common man have ensured that common man has indeed fallen prey to their story of loot.

In this case, those who have made investments have put in amounts ranging from 8 lakhs to 25 lakhs. Stories are endless- Krishnamma who had painstakingly gathered 8 lakhs for her three unmarried daughters; an ex- government employee Radhakrishnan, who put in 25 lakhs which happens to be his retirement amount including benefits- the stories are endless. Many of them are poverty stricken and are on the verge of committing suicide.

Even though Chief Minister Oommen Chandy have been petitioned, there has been no favourable move. Responses of other Congress leaders have also been lukewarm.
