Maradu Massacre – Lest We Forget

published on May 2, 2016

It was the 2nd of May 2003 under a crescent moon at the Marad beach. The Hindu fishermen, most of whom had just hauled their daily catch and were resting on the beach, never knew what hit them. Three teams of about a hundred armed men climbed out of their fibreglass boats on to the shore. Another batch eased out of a house near the Marad Juma Masjid. Armed with swords and machets, clutching Coke cans filled with gelatin, they rushed in from all directions. Within minutes, the hit team melted away leaving behind the dead and the living dead. The dead -Chandran, Dasan, Gopalan, Krishnan, Madhavan, Prajeesh, Pushparaj, Santhosh, were hacked to death in a choreographed storm of flashing swords and machetes. Some had their private organs torn out.

Maradu judicial Commission submitted it’s report, The report was released after a long hide and seek game, The report equally pointed at Communist’s , Congress and Muslim league for taking part in the inhumane massacre along with NDF terrorists. The Justice Joseph Commission recommended Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the conspiracy involving fundamentalist forces and terrorists in the massacre. The report is particularly critical of the Indian Union of Muslim League, a coalition partner of the Congress-led United Democratic Front government that ruled the state in 2003. It says IUML leaders were aware of the conspiracy behind the massacre. It says activists of the National Development Front (Now Popular Front) and some IUML activists were actively involved in the planning and execution of the massacre at Marad beach. ‘It was unlikely that the attack did not have the blessings of their leadership at least at the local level,’ says the report.

Commission specially pointed out the role of then District Collector T O Suraj in helping the Terrorists and of Assistant Commissioner of Police M Abdul Rahim’s biased report which lead to withdrawal of Police forces from Maradu after first riot in 2002. Maradu Araya society and Hindu Organisations where demanding nothing out of the way, But just to implement the recommendations mentioned in Maradu Commission.

Since from the beginning Hindu organisations were pleading for CBI enquiry, Thanks to intervention of Muslim League leaders who had direct role in this massacre A.K.Antony was succumbed to order only a Judicial probe. Now the Judicial probe also recommends a CBI probe to expose the charges of hawala connections, international conspiracy and role of ruling and Opposition parties behind the incident.

C M Pradeep Kumar who probed the Marad Massacre made a shocking revelation about the links of Congress leader Adam Musli with Pakistani terrorists who funded the massacre. More shockingly the police probe into it was blocked by Kerala Chief Minister Oomman Chandy, alleged Pradeep Kumar. As expected Kerala media and opposition conveniently ignored this allegation. A CBI enquiry into exposing the conspiracy and funding of this brutal act only can bring justice to the souls of those eight hapless Hindus who was butchered by Jihadis. To add salt to the wound Congress is fielding this accused Musli as Beypore UDF Candidate in upcoming election.

Commemorative functions are organised across Kerala to pay tribute to victims and once again to seek justice. By the time next year we write this, HK hope that Central Government will listen to this plea from Nationalist Hindus of Kerala – An endangered species!
