Major Security Lapse at Guruvayur Temple
The Commission’s Special Investigating Officer DIG S Sreejith pointed out that it was a serious lapse on the part of police, by not registering a case in the incident where devotees were beaten up mercilessly in the temple. The IG has given stringent directives to Guruvayur Police to register a case in this matter, in accordance with the report submitted by the Commission.
“We gathered visuals from the footage provided by cameras. These have in them clear visuals of a mother and son being beaten up mercilessly. Even if there was no complaint registered, police should have taken a case against this incident. However it never happened,†said the IG.
The Commission will also take into account, implementing a slew of measures that will prevent similar instances of inconvenience to devotees.
Commission head DGP Sreejith was in Guruvayur on Monday in connection with the incident. Sources have revealed that a couple of statements were also taken into account, in connection with the case. “This will continue today as well,†added sources.
