KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the Kozhikode District Collector and Kozhikode district police commissioner to inform whether a mosque functioning in an area under the Kozhikode Corporation has obtained sanction for using loudspeaker.

Justice A Muhamed Mustaque passed the order following a petition filed by local resident C K Ayyappan. According to the petitioner, the mosque has been functioning in a building numbered as a residential house and it does not have permission from the authorities concerned. The petitioner further stated that the mosque has been making use of loudspeakers round-the-clock. He said that it is illegal and has been causing nuisance to the local residents, adding that there are three mosques within a range of 300 metre.
