Kanhangadu (Kannur): Anti-nationals, have yet again plotted their one of their heinous tricks in instigating communal violence in Mangadu, by planting a buffalo’s head in Balagopala Krishna Temple in Molothungaal. The sacrilegious incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday morning, inside the temple premises and was first spotted by a local devotee. The desecration has been done in a temple that was reinstated just last month.

Mangadu has recently been witnessing tense incidents, with open strife between Congress and Marxists. In connection with this, a ruffian named Khalid was arrested for involvement in criminal cases, including attempt to murder. He was arrested following imposition of KAPA?. With escalating tension in the area, police personnel were deployed to keep strict vigil.

The incident of planting the buffalo head inside temple premises has added to the mounting disturbance in the area. Police officials who were not keen on registering a case insisted that the matter not be made public. However, following relentless protests from the public, police were forced to file an FIR.

District general secretary of BJP Kasargode has alleged that the matter points to a serious lapse from the part of police. “The same thing took place in 2011, in Meeppugiri Durga Parameswari Temple. Police have not been able to nab all the suspects related to the case. An ambush had been laid on Mallikarjuna Temple in Kasargode. But no progress has been made in any of these related cases,” said Advocate Sreekanth.
