The Kerala Latin Catholic Association (KLCA) has said that the Churchshould not heave any sigh of relief after ousting the association leaders. Leaders of KLCA in a press conference said that the Churchhas no authority to expel the leaders as the association was a voluntary association.

Flaying the activities of the Church, the leaders said that the Churchhad become a vehicle that stands besides the landlords and the proprietors. The companionship of the churches with profiteers had led them to behave as profiteers themselves.

The organisation alleged that the financial transactions in the Churchwere not at all transparent. They also said that the wealth accumulated through the channels was kept without any social-sharing of responsibilities. The transactions of wealth were done by priests, who did not form even a per cent of church’s population, they alleged.

The Churchwas also not able to reply to the allegations raised by Joseph Pulikkunnel over the misappropriation of funds in the distribution of tsunami funds. The KLCA was raising its voice against the stand of the Churchin making the self-financing colleges as profiteering institutions, leaders said.

The diocese committee that was till now not spending even a single penny for the organisational activities was spending lakhs of rupees for organising unit level and State level conventions so as to overcome the activities of KLCA, leaders said.

The organisation also warned the Churchthat even if it became successful in buying some of its leaders, the Churchwould not be able to explain the various unruly activities that it had been doing in the long run.

The KLCA also stated that the managing council of the outfit had decided to sack Judi Desilva and ED Francis from the organisation. Benny Joseph will be the new general secretary of the organisation and Xavier Ambalathumparambil will be the vice president. Cordial Stephen will be the secretary of the council. The managing council has decided to start campaigns against this misappropriation of funds . Felix J Pulloodan, S Johnson, Benny Joseph and Anto Marcilin among others attended the Press conference.
