Kutty’s family seeks CM’s assistance for his release

The family of Mr Maniappan R Kutty, the driver with the Border Road Organisation (BRO), who was kidnapped by Taliban militants in Afghanistan, has approached the Chief Minister requesting him to put pressure on the Centre for his early release from captivity.


Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has reportedly directed the official machinery to take all efforts with the Afghan authorities to expedite the release of Mr Kutty besides ensuring the security of around 300 Indians deployed there in various projects.


Mr Kutty, a native of Chingoli, near Haripad in Alapuzha district was kidnapped alongwith three Afghans yesterday while they were working in a highway project.
