The Hindu Aikya Vedi has called for the resignation of State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan taking the moral responsibility in the untoward incident at Changanassery NSS Hindu College leading to the death of a police officer Elias. The RSS leader was inaugurating a protest march organised by the affiliates of the Sangh in front of the Kottayam Superintendent Police’s office here on Monday.

The RSS leader said that the police was trying to vilify the Sangh and the ABVP for the untoward incident and that the actual culprits behind the incident has to be brought before the law. Kummanam Rajashekharan, who is one of the towering leaders of the Sangh and its affiliate organisations in the State, opined that the Home Minister was clearly behind the mud slinging campaign and added that he should be much more realistic and neutral as a Home Minister and not to behave like a CPI(M) leader.

He also added that the DGP, who has come out with the statement that RSS activists were behind the murder, should have properly verified the facts and come to the conclusion. The Hindu Aikya Vedi leader challenged the Home Minister and the police that the Sangh and the BJP would paste the photographs of the actual culprits in the Changanassery incident throughout the nook and corner of the State.

He also lashed out at Kottayam DySp PB Vijayan and said that this officer who had tried to falsely implicate the innocent leaders of the ABVP and the RSS had given a wrong direction to the case and added that this officer was trying to get the sympathy of State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan by acting as the stooge of the CPI(M) in the issue.

Kummanam also came out heavily against LDF Convener Vaikkom Viswan and said that the LDF leader had in a Press conference said that the RSS and ABVP workers were behind the murder of the police officer and challenged Viswan to act as the first witness in the case if he was so confident of the accused. The Hindu Aikya Vedi leader also said that the Sangh and its affiliate organisations would conduct protest marches throughout the State regarding the issue and added that the people of the State should understand the CPI(M) gimmicks of trying to vilify persons and organisations for ulterior motives.

The Hind Aikya Vedi leader was also at his best when he challenged the Government to come out with clear evidences in the case and added that there were three intelligence reports before the Home Department in the case and accused the police to have tampered with the report. He challenged Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and the State DGP to bring this intelligence report into the open and to clarify the genuine doubts aired by the people.

Meanwhile, BJP state secretary MT Ramesh has called for the resignation of the Home Minister and the DGP for having lied before the public without ascertaining the facts in the Changanasery incident. Ramesh was speaking at a protest march.

He said that the State Home Minister was in undue haste to frame the RSS and the ABVP leaders as the culprits in the unfortunate incident and added that there was much more than what was being seen behind this issue. He challenged the Home Minister that there would be protest march through out the State against this one sided version taken by him and that the police had meted out third degree torture on the RSS workers who were arrested after the incident including several innocent people.
