Kollam district under NDF control

via HK Correspondent published on August 14, 2006

KOLLAM : There are many places in Kollam district in Kerala which are totally under the control of Islamic terrorist organization – NDF. Few wards in Poruvazhy Panchayat have the Malappuram model dominance. Strangers are not allowed entry to those pockets and after sunset if anyone dares to pass through those areas, they shall be sternly challenged by youth of NDF criminals in the age group of 18 – 22. In the early morning hours between 5 – 6 one could see large number of jeeps moving out of those wards with 4 or 5 form mattresses on top of each jeep. Those jeeps are filled with full tank diesel from nearly filling stations and they move to different parts of Kollam, Trivandrum, Pathanamthitta, Idukky, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. By sunset, those vehicles return to the place of origin with most of those mattresses still on the jeep tops. Many shops and houses in the area are godowns for form mattresses, cotton mattresses, plastic mats, bed covers, mixer/grinders, pillows and similar items. Those mattresses and other small items carried in jeeps every day are just cover ups. No one questions to these criminals as to where they come from or what they are indulged in. Each such jeep is manned by atleast four people in the age group of 18 – 25 years.

In the locality, NDF activists spends thousands of rupees very lavishly and the public are aware of their extravaganza but remain silent to what are going on around them, because those dared to express their concern have met with dire consequences. It is to the knowledge of every one in the area that these boys are involved in the handling of fictitious currency and its circulation in various pretexts. They ride on brand new 150 cc motorbikes and Jeeps. They have in possession the latest Mobile phones with twin camera and the like. When they happen to indulge in road traffic accidents or such trifle incidents, gangs in Jeeps and bikes throng the scene and scare the public as well the local police. The local police are very much aware of things happening under their noses but maintain a cautious distance from those boys. Even in serious issues, the police officers tend to settle issues on compromise rather than booking them for petty offences. With the result of such apathy from the part of law enforcing authorities, the general public is more scared about those NDF criminals and that has kept them as a lot that remain above the law.
