KGS’ nurturing dreams of the airport is a futile endeavour: Samara Samiti

The Samara Samiti has reaffirmed that it will not allow the construction of the proposed airport under any circumstance. A statement was issued with effect to the same, following the announcement made by KGS Group that it planned to go ahead with the proposed airport project.

“Let there be a public hearing first. Then there should be a study into the hazards that will be caused to the fragile and delicate ecological balance. If people come to know that the project stands opposed to any kind of ethical or environmental aspect, they will voice dissent against the same. Anyone who studies the verdict from Green Tribunal will understand that Aranmula Airport project will not take shape. Taking these aspects into account, the government should not grant permission to the concerned group to go ahead with their plans,” said Samara Samiti spokesperson.

“The prime factor is that legally, KGS Group has no land in Aranmula now. The Taluk Land Board had conducted a sitting to hear the KGS stand on surplus land. Even though there were talks of conducting another sitting that never took place. If there is surplus land, it should be given to those who are landless. The intention of the government on staking claims should be abandoned,” added Samara Samiti.
