Kerala turns into Ambadi
Reminding one of the days of ‘Dwapara yuga’, the city transforms into an ‘Ambadi’ , with thousands of children taking part in a procession dressed up as Lord Krishna, his beloved Radha, playmates ‘Gopis’ and ‘Gopas’ and other mythological figures on today evening.
The celebrations started off a day ahead of the festival, with children in the outfits of Lord Krishna participating in ‘uriyadi’ competitions conducted by Balagokulam at 150 centres in the city on Tuesday.
The procession on Wednesday will mark the end of the celebrations conducted by Balagokulam in the name ‘Krishnarchana 5115’.
In the state capital procession begun from Palayam Ganapathy Temple.
Along with Krishna and Radha, there were children personifying other characters in the epics including Kuchela and Balarama. The procession also have a number of tableaux and floats depicting various incidents in the ‘puranas.’
