Kerala high on jehadi radar – Left Front is unwilling to act
For a small state, yet to recover from the “export of jehadis to Kashmir” and loss of 4000 girls due to “Love Jehad”, comes another bombshell, the visit of Tahawwur Rana and David Headley to Kochi for scouting terror targets, including Guruvayur Temple and Sabarimala.
The seeds of a Islamic fanaticism were sown when the communist EMS ministry granted a separate district for Muslims-Malappuram. Later eighties and nineties saw the growth of Madhani. During his jailing in Coimbatore from 1998 to 2007 for attempt on LK Advani’s life, new groups like SIMI, NDF, PDP etc. were promoted by ISI-LeT. Now powerful cells of jehadi terrorism are active throughout the state with inter-state and international links.
The burning of a Tamil Nadu bus at Kochi on September 9, 2005, to protest against Madhani’s detention, blasts at a Kozhikode bus stand, recovery of gelatin sticks at various parts of the state, Beypore boat blasts, haul of guns in Kochi, arrival of Pak-printed Indian currency in containers are all part of the jehadi strategy to train and equip themselves for major assaults.
Jehadis have conducted extensive training at Wagamon hill station including high-speed bike-riding, swimming, forest trekking and experiment of ammonium nitrate and chemical bombs before the blasts at Gujarat, Jaipur and Delhi. Very recently a bomb was exploded at the Collectorate in Kochi.
T Nazeer, a former bodyguard of Madhani, was the main kingpin behind the bus burning in Kochi. He, along with Sainudeen, a bomb expert, and Riyaz Bhatkal were the kingpins of LeT terror strikes in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi. They are also the main kingpins of “export of terror” to Kashmir, where five Malayali jehadis were shot dead by Indian Army. There are reports that Nazeer has been arrested in Bangladesh and handed over to NIA. Detailed interrogation of Nazeer will give a breakthrough into the terror network and Headley-Rana agenda.
Dubai and Saudi-Arabia, with a large Kerala population, have become a haven for Kerala jehadis, both in terms of manpower and money power. Kochi, a fast-growing metro, with an international airport, a seaport, an upcoming container terminal and real- estate mafia, is proving a jehadi bonanza. There are already IB, RAW, Coast Guard, Navy and Army warnings of jehadis training in uninhabited islands and possible targets of Navy installations and warships in Kochi.
The visit of Rana and Headley to Kochi on November 17 and 18 and their stay at Taj raise a thud in several hearts. Their cover as “migration consultants” to Canada and US was basically for recruitment for terror machinery. Also there are IB reports that they made blueprints of Guruvayur and Sabarimala temple and Kerala is high on their strike targets.
Despite the grave threat to Kerala from jehadi extremism, both the CPM and the Congress have been adopting a passive attitude for past two decades for fear of losing the 25 per cent Muslim vote bank.
