The Kerala government has not acquired any stretch of land for laying the Angamali- Sabarimala borad gauge railway line despite the Railways had remitted Rs 3.55 crore on Mar 29, 2003 for acquisition of land for the entire project.

Denying the allegation by the state government that the railways had not deposited any money for the acquisition of land, the Railway Board through its Deputy Chief Engineer (Constructions) Southern Railway here has contented that even though the amount as deposited with the state revenue department for the purpose of paying compensation to landowners, the state government had not yet handed over any stretch of land for the purpose to the Railways.

It has, thus, become clear that it is the state government which is solely responsible for the delay in implementing the Sabari railway line project, an official pointed out.
