Kannur Terror-updates
Two RSS workers were murdered yesterday in Kannur. Three others were grievously injured The near simultaneous attacks across district started with the ambush on Sri M P Sumesh (38) the Thalasserry Sharirik Pramukh of the Sangh. He was returning from the annual Shivarathri Sewa Nidhi collection and on his way to the Kalathilkoolooth Temple when the CPM good squad attacked him with hatchets. They cut of his hand and hacked him on his head and feet. He is in the ICU and may pull through. Sri MP Sumesh is a well known social worker in Thalassery and his appeal, like that of the late Ashwini Kumar, cut across party lines.
RSS workers Nikhil (22) and BJP worker Sathyan (38) were killed. Nikhil worked as a Lorry cleaner. Sathyan who was a construction worker had his neck severed.
Two other BJP workers Vinayan and Ranjit were injured when assailants burst into their houses, dragged them out and hacked them. All the attacks came about simultaneously.
The nature of the injuries inflicted on the victims is seen to be similar. All the victims have cuts to the head , arms and ankles indicating a centralized training and attack plan.
Last month almost all of the top brass of the police in the district were transferred and were replaced by officers plaint to CPM.
