Kamala Surayya’s Diminishing Expectations of Islam

Kamala Surayya, noted poet, writer and novelist, daughter of well known poet Nalappat Balabamni Amma, had converted to Islam several years ago. Since then, she has issued several provocative statements praising Islam in the midst of Muslim leaders.

Now Kamala Surayya has issued a statement at a book releasing ceremony organized by Kairali Books in Kochi that she deeply regret converting to Islam and is disillusioned with the reacherous behavior of her Muslim friends. She claims that all her wealth amounting to several lakhs, gold ornaments, books and other valuables have been looted by Muslims. In the name of Islamic Sakath, Muslims have cleaned all her inherited wealth and earned income from her books. Her confidence on Islam has fallen to a low ebb. Few years ago she was dreaming of Islamic world power. Now she is in despair due to her impending exhaustion of her resources by Muslim friends. Exploitation by her Muslim friends and her aloofness from her former colleagues and friends have produced a mood of pessimism as she lose faith in the corrupt and deceptive practice of Muslims. Kamala Surayya is gripped with a crisis of confidence. The dimensions of her present malaise indicate that it can be attributed to the treacherous game plan of her Muslim friends.

Kamala Surayya has lost both her capacity and the will to confront the difficulties that threaten Muslim women all over the world. Her crisis of confidence and inability to face her predicament reflects a general crisis of Muslim culture, which reveals itself in a pervasive despair of  understanding the emerging changes in the world.

Kamala Surayya’s escape from freedom to slavery and her vain attempt to reverse the course is a clear warning for phony liberals who lost the capacity to understand the restrictions imposed by Muslims who follow the rigid, closed dogma disguised as religion.
