Jihadis oppose cultural symbols in School emblem in Kerala with the blessings of Muslim League

published on September 16, 2012

A musical instrument, with Indian roots, the Veena and a universal emblem, the lamp are now being termed ‘communal’ thanks to fundamental outfits of Kerala, who are pampered by the government. They also have an ally: the state Department of Education.

Recently, the Kerala government has been faced with the ire of fundamental forces, who have demanded the scrapping of the emblems of ‘veena’ and ‘lamp’ via the Director of Education. What seems even tragic is the fact that the principals of many schools are being confronted by these fundamental elements, who resort to threats if the symbols are not removed. It is no doubt that the Indian Union Muslim League is behind the entire drama. A memorandum to the Director seeking the immediate removal of these symbols has also been submitted. The question lies clear: when have cultural elements become religious symbols?

The school that stood witness to the entire drama is the LVHC School at Mainagappilly. The school had a lamp and veena as its emblem, right from 1998, with the consent of the entire section of staff and administrators. It was first introduced to the school family via the school curtain, in the year 1999. From 2004, it became part of the school youth festival certificates and from 2011-2012, it adorned the identity cards and school uniforms, belts etc.

As all good stories have a mote to create ample trouble when the tide flows serene, there appeared on the scene Mohammed Naufal. He joined the services of the Mainakappilly Mosque as a Musaliyar and had the NDF background. He began his tirade of protests against the cultural emblems, successfully brainwashing a large section in the process. One of the first steps he resorted to was packing off a group of students who came for religious studies. The reason? They sported school uniform T-shirts that had the cultural emblems. Following this, he organized like minded fundamentalists and marched to the school and threatened the principal of the school. “If the emblem is not removed, Muslim students will be withdrawn from the school,” he roared.

However, the school principal, who hails from Muslim background, along with other teacher belonging to the Islamic faith voiced their protest against the Musaliyar, loud and clear. This led to worsening of matters because like minded fundamentalists of the area launched their support for the Musaliyar. The local Muslim League leader Karoli YA Samad approached the state Education Department with a directive of changing the emblem. Following this, the school principal was summoned to the DD Office and subjected to an onslaught of questions. The final outcome was announced: “if there is a mass protest against the emblems, it shall stand removed”.

However, those who stand true to Indian culture, with a focus on unbiased education, spearheaded by the school Principal has vouched that they will not bow before Islamic fundamentalists whose only aim is launch terror activities amongst the social fabric.

Mainakappilly is a hub of hidden terror planning, witnessing many conspiracies being hatched here. The place teems with the likes of Naufal, who are born on Indian soil, but who stand traitors by creating an atmosphere of terror and here by doing away with everything that stands Indian.
