KOCHI: On investigation it was noticed that P K Fayaz, main accused in the gold smuggling via Nedumbassery Airport, has links with higher ups. He revealed his close relation with officials of the customs department on interrogation. Following his statement, the CBI has started investigation on customs deputy commissioner Madhavan and preventive officer Sunil. The CBI has asked customs to provide full details of the officials.

His links with Jikkumon Jacob, former personal staff member of the chief minister, was noticed earlier. Fayaz had Jacob’s mobile number in his phone. Not only that on investigation it was understood that the two used to continuously contact each other. During interrogation, the customs obtained information that international hawala racket is behind Fayaz.

Fayaz friends circle include ministers, top police chiefs, actors etc. It was noticed that 52 kilos of gold worth Rs 16 crores have been smuggled by Fayaz in the past two months.

Meantime, Jikkumon did not deny his links with Fayaz and said that he was ready to face any kind of investigation.

KOCHI: Customs Officials said Fayas, arrested in connection with gold smuggling through the Cochin International Airport Ltd, was involved in human trafficking also. It is stated that a former Miss South India helped him in his operations.

Women taken to Dubai in visiting visas were used for gold smuggling. Investigating team obtained information that girls have also been trafficked abroad. Apart from Nedumbassery, Fayaz used Karipur and Chennai airports for smuggling gold biscuits worth crores. The money obtained after selling gold is used for hawala deal. Ashraf of Thalassery is the main accused in the racket.

When questioned, Fayaz told customs that the gold was smuggled for Thangal Raheem of Koduvally. Customs officials said the name is suspected to be a fake one.

The team obtained more details after examining his mobile. Proofs of him speaking to many film actors were obtained. He has close links with former Miss India. Initial reports said the Miss India has links with the gold smuggling case. He maintained a good relation with some customs officials of the Nedumbassery airport. Fayas used his influence in the customs department to facilitate the exit of the women to carry gold through the green channel.

Luxurious cars and bikes were a craze for him.

Customs officials are conducting a raid at his friend Ashraf’s flat in Thalassery in connection with gold smuggling. It is heard that the officials have obtained some documents revealing the relation of Fayaz with Ashraf.

KOZHIKODE: The action of police not investigating the role of Fayaz, accused in the gold smuggling case, in the suicide case of serial and film actress Priyanka is turning into a controversy. Raheem, arrested by the customs in the gold smuggling case, has given a statement against Fayaz.

Priyanka (21), native of Wayanad, was found dead in a flat in Kozhikode on November 26 in 2011. The police case is that the actress committed suicide after she was cheated by the man who impregnated her.

Rahim told police that he was introduced to the actress by Fayaz and she called him before committing suicide. He also told police that if Fayaz is questioned more details can be obtained, but police just ignored it.

Meantime, there are reports that actor Dilip has links with Fayaz. Some pictures of Fayaz sitting in his car with Dilip have been posted in Facebook. Fayaz has acted in the recently released Dilip’s film Shringaravelan. Fayaz’ luxurious car was used in the film.

Responses
