Syria: A Malayali mediaman, who worked as Doha reporter of a Kerala based jihadi organisation’s mouthpiece,  is said to have joined Al Qaeda in Syria for their Jihadist activities.  A social media investigative venture conducted by Janam TV reports that Abu Thahir, a native of Palakkad has joined the services of Al Nusrah, a sister concern of Al Qaeda. Posts favouring Al Qaeda are said to have appeared on Thahir’s page from 2014.

Going by the id of abuthahir.olavakkod.9, the id reveals many shocking details. He is said to have made an open confession of “not being part of Islamic State army” and “being part of Al Nusrah’s Syrian army’s suicide bomb squad”, the sister concern of Al Qaeda.” Thahir is said to have shared umpteen posts of Popular Front of India and SDPI before pledging loyalty to Al Qaeda.

Thahir pledged his commitment to Ayman Al Zawahiri. One of his Facebook posts states that as “Zawahiri makes a clarion call to Muslims all over the world to arrive in Syria to set up a Caliphate. The Jihadist army in India will drag their rulers along the streets.”, says another post

Making no attempt to disguise his contempt for those in India who believe in the system of democracy, Thahir has made a string of pictures related to those Jihadists who were slain in Syria in battle. There are videos too, some of them being as gruesome as two children bearing rifles, and issuing war cries of Jihad.

Thahir was a resident of Doha during his tenure as part time journalist for the Popularfront’s journal. He is believed to have made way to Syria via Turkey. He stands a typical example of those Indian youths who have been brain washed as part of victimhood politics, inspiring them to join the international terror network.
