Kannur: Police probe regarding the the Jail break in Kannur Central Jail by a Rape convict, Deepak, revealed that CPI(M) criminals in  prison were those who supported Deepak in his endeavour.

It’s also reported that this Murderer and Rape Convict was given an easy getaway by local CPM leaders and former prisoners who waited outside jail with vehicles.

Deepak who was convicted for life imprisonment following a rape and subsequent murder case of a 14-year-old distant relative, is considered as a cold blooded murderer and the support extended by the CPI(M) prisoners exposes their true colours..

The police has also given report that the jail staff, most of whom temporary staff, are in continuous fear of the CPI(M) political prisoners who are running their free will in the jail.

It may be recalled that the jail inmates were allowed a television set in each block during the World Cup football tournament last year. These television sets later on were removed after the tournament, but, in Kannur Central Jail all the television sets are still present in all the blocks even after the World Cup came to a close long back.

This shows how the prisoners are ruling the roost in one of the most high forted central jails of South India.

The recently shunted jail DGP, MGA Raman, was tough enough in not allowing undue freedom to the prisoners but at the same time he was more than considerate to the genuine concerns of these prisoners.

He was in the process of cleaning up the Kannur Central Jail of the untoward issues and was enforcing more stringent measures when he was transferred.
