Jacobite Church Pre-pones Independence Day to let Teachers go to Church on Holiday.

published on August 18, 2014
Tripunithura’s Gregorian Public School at Maradu has drawn the ire of public for having preponed the nation’s Independence Day celebrations. Adding to the gross insult was the tying of India’s national flag on to the grills by school supervisor on the day of actual celebrations.

The celebrations were preponed to 14 August, in order to facilitate the church going for teachers of the school, on a holiday. The school is said to have remained completely closed on Independence Day. Gregorian Public School falls under the aegis of  Cochin diocese.

School authorities were quick to cover up and denied the matter instantaneously. The school supervisor however admitted that he hoisted the national flag all by himself, without anyone being present. He is also said to have confessed to the local BJP leaders that this was the manner in which all Independence Days were celebrated.
