KANHANGAD: One more person was arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the theft at the Mallikarjuna temple in Chithari two months ago.

The arrested, Hameed, 28, was involved in a series of thefts in temples including the Madiyan Koolom temple and the Kalanad Bhagavathy temple, the police said.

The police had already arrested Izzudeen, Shijo, Noushad and Veeranand, a native of Tamil Nadu, in connection with the theft at the Mallikarjuna temple.

The gold ornaments stolen form these temples had been recovered by the police from jewellers. The ‘Nagapatam’ and gold covered ‘Chandrakala’ of the Madiyan Koolom temple had been recovered from the premises of the railway station here a few weeks ago.
