Forged passport: One held


NEDUMBASSERY: A passenger, Pydoth Abdul Kareem, 43, of Cheruvannoor, Kozhikode, was nabbed by the Emigration personnel at the Cochin International Airport here when he arrived by Air-India Express flight from Dubai with a forged passport on Wednesday.

He allegedly pasted his photograph on the passport of one Ahemed Haneef of Kasargod. When grilled, Abdul Kareem reportedly confessed to the Emigration personnel that he had left for Dubai around three years ago.

One Kutty Ali took away his passport in Dubai. He paid Rs 30,000 for one Razak in Dubai on the instruction of Abdulla of Kasargod to get the passport of Ahemed Haneef by replacing his photograph. Abdul Kareem was also instructed to hand over the passport to Abdulla of Kasargod, soon after reaching Kochi.

The Emigration personnel immediately informed the police who reportedly nabbed Abdulla at Kasargod. Abdul Kareem was handed over to Chengamanad police. Crime Detachment DySP Issac George has reportedly started an investigation into the forged passport cases.
