Kalpetta: In what can be termed as sheer disregard of Court directive, the state government has allegedly handed over land in Wayanad, to the Christian Church. It was on 9 July that the High Court had prohibited the state government’s move to donate land to the Church, overlooking the plight of the landless Adivasis.

However, in what can be termed as a contradictory move, it has been alleged that as many as 14 acres of revenue land in Edachana under Mananthavady diocese to Kallodi St George Church by the Tahsildar of Mananthavady, under the record of an old date. According to sources, the documents have been forged with the date of 3 July.

Condemning the matter, Protestors said that “the move by state government is a challenge to the existing laws and sheer disregard of Court by the congregation and also disdain for the views of common man.”
