Hundred’s pay homage to BJP leader

Thalaserry:The body of Valsaraj Kurup, who was brutally murdered by CPI(M) thugs, was taken to the Medical College Hospital, Pariyaram .After the inquest body was cremated after being kept at the BJP office in Panur in the afternoon for the people to pay homage. People from all walks of life gathered together to pay homage to their leader, who became the prey of an alien ideology. 


 


The BJP’s Peringalam constituency committee president, and a lawyer at the Thalassery bar, thirty six-year-old PP Valsaraj Kurup was murdered by a gang after he was called out of his house at midnight.BJP leaders here accused the CPI(M) of having a hand in the murder.


 


Police have registered a case against seven persons in connection with the murder. A dawn-to-dusk hartal called by BJP and RSS in the district on Monday to protest against the killing .As various areas of the district, especially Panur, remained tense on Monday.Vehicular traffic came to a standstill in Panur. In other areas of the district, vehicular traffic was not interrupted in view of annual examinations at schools.


 


Valasaraj Kurup was called out of his house on the pretext that legal help was needed in a vehicle case. Though Kurup at first hesitated in opening the door as it was late in the night, he came out on hearing the mention of a familiar name. He was hit by an iron rod on the head at the gate. Kurup also suffered a wound from a sharp weapon in the leg. Though he was taken to the hospital by local residents, his life could not be saved.


 


There were more than five persons in the gang outside the house, Kurup’s wife Bindu, who was witness to the incident, said. Kurup and Bindu have two daughters, Devapriya, an kindergarten student and three-month-old Krishnapriya.
