Hindus owe a lot to Narayana Guru : Kanchi Seer
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kanchi Kamakodi Peethom seer Jayendra Saraswathi said that the Hindu community in the state owed a lot to social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. He was speaking after inaugurating the delegates’ meet of various Hindu organisations as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Temple Entry Proclamation organised by the Hindu Aikyavedi here on Saturday.
“The Guru’s fight against untouchability and other inequalities helped the community to remain united. The Hindu community should fight against steps intended to destroy the unity of the community like the proposed Communal Violence Bill,†he said.
Around 110 leaders of 61 Hindu organisations attended the leadership meet held as part of the function. The year-long platinum jubilee celebrations were inaugurated by Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the royal family of Travancore.
Kesari editor J Nandakumar delivered a talk on the proposed Communal Violence Bill. He said that the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill 2011 was aimed at splitting the Hindu community.
Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha general secretary N K Vasudevan delivered a talk on Justice Ranganathan Commission report and Aikyavedi state secretary Brahmachari Bhargavaram delivered a talk on ‘Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Kerala Temples’.
