As per 2004 Parliament election poll statitics (when Rajagopal came 1st in the old TVM East Constituency and 2nd in the old Nemom constituency)as many as 7,61,713 voters representing 68.65 per cent of the total electorate in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency exercised their franchise at various polling centres  in the elections to the 2004 Lok Sabha. Official figures released here today said the highest voting percentage was recorded in the Nemom Assembly segment and the lowest in the West segment.

The following is the number of voters and the polling percentage in each Assembly constituency: Thiruvananthapuram North- 1,23,003 (65.33), West- 85,725 (63.31), East- 87,102 (66.2), Nemom- 1,24,676 (71.7), Kovalam- 1,16,657 (69.33), Neyyatinkara- 1,14,449 (71.37), Parassala- 1,10,101 (71.13).

This clearly shows that higher polling percentage has an advantage for BJP
