The Kerala High Court on Thursday declined to prohibit exhibition of the film The Da Vinci Code in the State, but directed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to reconsider the certification granted to the movie.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice VK Bali and Justice CR Raman, directed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to consider the review petition for the certification to the movie and granted three weeks’ time to take a decision in the matter.

Petitioner Basil Attipetty had sought a direction to the chairman, Central Board of Film Certification, to reconsider the permission granted for exhibiting the film in the State.

He said the film was a “distorted” version of historical facts and would “affect the freedom of belief”.
